Spices! Can’t live without them. Here are 8 must have spices for your kitchen we just cannot live without.
Hello there! So, I was stumped the other day and realized how much money I
was wasting on buying spices from my supermarket/grocery store. I use A lot of
spices, especially things like garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika,
regular paprika, pepper, sea salt, table salt, and my favorite (secret spice)
Tony’s. If you don’t know what Tony’s is or you haven’t tried it. You are
missing out on the best spice in life, I assure you.

Anyway, one week I was making my freezer meals as usual and realized I went through two small bottles of garlic powder…what?! So, in the middle of my hustling
and bustling…I had to run to the store and grab some more. To my surprise,
the small bottles I was buying was almost $5! I didn’t realize how much a small
bottle of spices could cost. I actually never paid attention to every day spice
costs, until now.
I am a frugal person, at least I would like to think so. So, after my meal
planning I hopped onto the computer to see what the average prices were for
every day must have spices for your kitchen was and I compared bulk to the small bottles I was buying. Y’all I could have saved soooooooo much money buying bulk!
So, what did I do? I went ahead and bought all of my must have spices for my kitchen that I use on a regular in bulk from Amazon and I could not be happier! Below I will post the links for each.
If you want to know about other spices you may use on a regular drop a comment and I will investigate for you and post a link for that spice!
Now I know some of you may not agree with my must have spices for your kitchen list, but I wholeheartedly believe that every kitchen should have these basics. Also, I know in some countries you can pick the spices and make your own! I wish I could do that here. If you make your own spices, try and make the Cajun spice aka Tony’s. You won’t be disappointed I promise.
I use that stuff on just about everything: from meats, Ramen, scrambled eggs, deviled eggs, salads, and I’ve even tried it on my tuna salads and sandwiches. I’m telling you, it’s one of those flavors that just make everything better.
Please, If you do make it Drop me a comment and let me know how it turned out! I would LOVE to hear all about it! Also, drop me a comment and let me know what spices you use all the time. What is your Tonys?

My husband who is passionate about cooking makes his spices from the scratch for every non-vegetarian dish he cooks. There’s nothing like the aroma and flavor of fresh spices and that you can never find in store spice mixes/sauces. Thanks for sharing your tips, Felicia.
My husband is a foodie and he loves making his own spices. In fact, he likes to make them fresh for every non-vegetarian dish he cooks. From your list we dont use onion powder and Secret spice Tony’s, rest we do have it in our kitchen 😀
This is such sensible advice. I have started buying my bulk spices from Natural Grocers, and then I just have to be sure I have room to store them. The onion powder tends to cake together after a while, even in Denver, so I have to keep an eye on it. Thanks for the tips!
I am also a “spice person”. I enjoy using new spices and trying them out. But it never occured to me that I could by my “regular” spices in bulk. As always, thak you for this great tip.
Spice prices are crazy! I don’t use too many though. I have my favourite mixes for chicken, beef and a barbecue flavour and a few herb mixes plus cinnamon, ginger and cumin. I usually prefer to use fresh garlic, but keep a bottle of dried garlic flakes on hand if I run out.
I love cooking and making my masalas from scratch and agree with your list. I don’t keep onion powder though as we mostly use fresh for cooking. But yes, my spice shelf is quite well stocked as I like to roast, grind, mix and match!
That photo at the top had me drooling, Felicia!
My favourite spices are salt, pepper and garlic! The 3 of those should always be in my kitchen. Red pepper is also nice. Its amazing how you can play around with different spices to implement a delicious dish! Clever idea to buy all the spices at once!
