Yummy Asian Meatballs with Hoisin Sauce! Yes please! So, the other day I was debating on what to cook with the hamburger meat I had set out. On my meal plan I had had meatloaf, but for some reason I actually wasn’t in the mood for meatloaf, neither was my son.. who by the way is a super picky eater. Lord help the parents of picky eaters, it is a daily struggle I tell you
So, I went to Pinterest like I always do to find some sort of inspiration for my debacle. I didn’t want the usual ground beef dishes we have had in the past but I also didn’t want something that was overly complicated or had a ton of ingredients. It doesn’t matter how great a recipe looks, if it has a billion and one ingredients, I won’t touch it.
I came across these Hoisin Asian Meatballs and they intrigued me, so I checked to see if I had all the ingredients…to my surprise I did! If you want the original recipe you can find it HERE, but to me the original had a bit too much Hoisin for my liking. It really overpowered the dish, so I made a few changes to the sauce.
I just love experimenting with sauces, it makes me feel like a “real” chef hehe. Every time I try a recipe, I always make the recipe as is and then I tweak it to my families’ liking. Usually, its more salt/pepper/garlic or less spice etc.. For this recipe I added a bit more meat because the 1lb it called for was just not going to feed my hungry family of 5.
Back to the recipe, I know I know you’re probably wondering why is this woman talking so much. I assure you I have a method to my madness. I just want you to know why I changed the original recipe so much and you yourself can always try both and see which one suits your fancy. I would love to hear about your experiences in the comments! Make both and let me know which one you liked better and Why. Here’s my recipe for Asian Meatballs with hoisin sauce
.
What can I use instead of Hoisin sauce? I know sometimes you cannot find hoisin sauce in your area so something you can use is half soy sauce plus a little bit of brown sugar. So, this recipe calls for 1 tablespoon of hoisin sauce, just use 1/2 tablespoon soy sauce and a sprinkle of brown sugar. (more if you want it sweeter)
I hope you enjoy these Asian meatballs with Hoisin sauce as much as we did. There weren’t any leftovers so I think next time I may double the recipe. Drop me a comment and let me know if you liked this version or not. I am always up for improvements and or praises!
If you like these check out my other recipes!
This one I can’t take credit for it’s my husbands’ recipe (he’s half Korean and I love it hehe) and it is so Easy our kids can do this lol only 2 ingredients and 10 minutes on the grill!!! WHAAAATTT?!
If you know me, my favorite food is Asian food, any Asian food really but mostly Korean, Chinese, and Phillipino. I always tell my husband I should have been the Asian one in the family (I’m the only one that’s not lol) because I am the one who loves all the Asian food. It’s soooo YUMMY!!

“Having read this I believed it was really informative. I appreciate you finding the time and effort to put this information together. I once again find myself personally spending a significant amount of time both reading and posting comments. But so what, it was still worthwhile!”
Those towels are really cute! The colors are also lovely.
Am a vegetarian, so I will pass this recipe on to my friend who isn’t. Sauce sounds good though! And a 30-minute recipe is always great!

Hello there! I just would like to give you a big thumbs up for the excellent information you have got right here on this post.
I am returning to your site for more soon.
Awesome blog! Do you have any hints for aspiring writers?
I’m planning to start my own blog soon but I’m a little lost on everything.
Would you recommend starting with a free platform like WordPress or go
for a paid option? There are so many options out there that I’m completely overwhelmed ..
Any tips? Bless you!
I’ve been browsing on-line more than 3 hours today, but
I by no means discovered any interesting article like yours.
It’s pretty worth enough for me. In my opinion, if all website owners and bloggers made good content as you
probably did, the internet can be a lot more useful than ever before.
Greetings from Florida! I’m bored to tears at work so I decided to browse your blog on my iphone during lunch
break. I really like the information you present here and can’t wait to take a look when I get home.
I’m surprised at how quick your blog loaded on my cell phone ..
I’m not even using WIFI, just 3G .. Anyhow, amazing

This looks so delicious. I have never tried cooking with hoisin sauce in the fear of messing up the dish. But I can give this a try with chicken or maybe turkey mince. Thanks for the recipe. Love how you cook different cuisines.
Hi Raj,
I’ve learned that a little hoisin sauce goes a long way and you can always add more if you want more of that flavor. I’m sure this would be amazing with turkey meatballs!!Let me know if you do try it out!
I love a good meatball recipe but I love it even more with an Asian flavor! Thanks for a great recipe!
