Cabbage rolls in your instant pot
Instant pot cabbage rolls/Stuffed cabbage rolls recipe! Done in minutes instead of hours. Under 20 minutes from start to finish!
So, for the longest time we have been making our classic cabbage rolls in the oven (taking anywhere from 1.5-2 hours!) and it is my Mother in laws recipe so you know it is Amazing! One thing I can say about my mother in law is that lady can cook! A lot of women do not get along with their in laws so I consider myself blessed beyond measure that God gave me wonderful in-laws.
My husband has this saying that if it ain’t broke don’t fix it and that is his mentality with recipes too. You wouldn’t believe what I have to endure when I make a dish a little different (and I do it a lot because I love variety lol). Variety is the spice of life…that is my saying. He has actually been more open lately because a lot of the recipes that I tweak or cook differently turn out pretty darn good if I say so myself.

When it almost came time to cook the cabbage rolls I asked if I could try it a little different this time, instead of cooking them in the oven for almost 2 hours can I try the instant pot. To my amazement he said Yes! I ran with that so fast, like no take backs this is happening, Instant Pot cabbage rolls!

Ladies, do you have a hubby who’s mom is an amazing cook and every time you try and tweak something of theirs, your hubby just doesn’t let you or don’t want to even try it? That all goes back to the saying if it ain’t broke don’t fix it right… So, you know where I’m coming from right? I can’t be the only one whose husband is like this right?
Anyway, I had this recipe in my pinterest for a little bit that I’ve been dying to try but I only saved it for the cook times because I use my own meats, veggies, spices, etc.. because I didn’t want to change my MIL’s recipe I just wanted to make it cook faster lol.
I did add one thing to the recipe and we liked it so I will be adding them from now on, that is mushrooms. I added Japanese mushrooms but I’m sure you can add pretty much any mushroom to your liking. It doesn’t really give a different flavor just a different consistency, or leave them out all together whatever you like!

Introducing Denese’s (MY MIL) cabbage roll recipe 🙂 with a few tweaks! Love you ma! I hope you enjoy these suckers as much as my family and friends did! Instant Pot Cabbage Rolls!
If you’re looking for an amazing side dish that takes about the same time to cook. Check out this cornbread recipe from my blogging friend Kim over at https://decadebetween.com/cornbread/ It’s perfect with this dish and it will be done in about the time your cabbage rolls are done! WIN/WIN
I’ve actually made this into a cabbage roll casserole as well when I didn’t feel like rolling the cabbage, all you do is break up the cabbage and put it with everything and mix, then cook! Makes it easier but I do like the look of the cabbage rolls if I do say so myself. You can also add sauerkraut and make cabbage rolls with sauerkraut like my hubby likes (but I do not). You can omit the rice and make this recipe and you have instant pot cabbage rolls KETO!

So glad you saw! I think they go fabulous together
Looks so good. Seriously I need to stop living under a rock and get an instant pot lol
I loved this recipe to core& im definitely trying it out; loved the snippet of your life along with it! Thoroughly enjoyed; fingers crossed & hoping it comes out good in my cooker. Can’t wait to try it.
These cabbage rolls look so colorful and yum. We dont get this type of cabbage… ours is light green and without such prominent veins. Will try it with chicken or vegetarian filling one of these days. Thanks for sharing this simple and easy to make recipe, Felicia.
Thanks for sharing, this could not have come at a better time, we have just planted 2 full lines of cabbage and will be looking out for lots more recipes. Though we will be using the traditional way of cooking
Yummy! I can sub the meat part with other veg. I always add my own twist to any recipe I make and enjoy the results usually. Most of the time I have to tweak to make it veg-friendly and diabetes-friendly! I don’t have an instant pot but I am thinking this would work pretty well in my pressure cooker too! Thank you Felicia! I am guessing this freezes well, too and can be microwaved later.
Instant pot is nothing more than pressure cooker when using manuel or pressure button…will be the same!
i’m going to substitute soya with meat and try it out. it’s boiled and healthy recipe n low cal too.. i’m glad u shared it with us, Thanks Fosheela
I just love quick and easy recipes! Thank you for sharing your mother-in-law’s recipe. Normally family recipes are a closely guarded secret and great to see that you are sharing it. I will definitely try this one out.
Gosh this looks soooo yum. Is there a vegetarian recipe as well. I would like to try it. I wish I was this adventurous with my instant pot.
Talking about MIL, yeah she is an amazing cook. But I always add my twists to recipes. My husband actually believes that one should make the recipe their own. Of course it doesn’t stop me from cooking disasters as well. ?
Hi Raj Thanks for the thoughtful comment! For a vegetarian substitute for the pork there is Field Roast vegetarian grain meat Italian sausages and a substitute for the ground beef could either be lentils or a meatless meatball like Trader Joe’s meatless meatballs. Just smush together with the veggies and spices 🙂 hope this helps!
Felicia, thanks so much for mentioning my site, I appreciate it so much – and have these cabbage rolls on my list to try soon!
